In deep collaboration with three community organizations representing children/schools, working people, and the elderly, cityLAB focuses on public spaces in the neighborhood. UCLA and local area students, faculty, and community representatives will undertake place-based demonstration projects that benefit from a social and physical design approach to urban issues. MacArthur Park, the neighborhood streets, alleys, and sidewalks, recreation areas associated with schools, and transit zones will be the points of focus. The goal is to build a compassionate, sustainable neighborhood in Westlake as a model for the City of Los Angeles.
