Melissa Rovner

Research Associate

Melissa Rovner is a California Architect, researcher, and graduate student in the UCLA AUD MA/PhD program. She studies the creation of modernist cities as apparatuses within sociological, political and economic frameworks. Melissa received her Bachelor's of Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she explored the potential of urban infrastructures. Her award-winning thesis argued that the freeway system in Los Angeles acts to segregate communities, in opposition to the supposedly democratic network it alludes to. Melissa has explored these issues and others working for P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S, Eric Owen Moss Architects, Rios Clementi Hale Studios, and through teaching at Woodbury University.
