Emmanuel Proussaloglou

cityLAB Fellow, 2022

Emmanuel Proussaloglou is a rising second year graduate student pursuing a dual masters degree in architecture and urban planning. He is interested in using architecture and its agency to create space as a way to engage with social issues, bridging the gap between the often disparate goals of these two fields. Emmanuel is specifically focused on investigating how policy and legislation dictate, constrain, and sometimes liberate design approaches to the built environment. In that vein he has been involved in research with Professor Loukaitou-Sideris, evaluating climate resiliency plans for the most populated cities in the US. Prior to enrolling at UCLA, he worked at Perkins and Will’s Chicago office in order to gain experience with how architects realize projects  and navigate bureaucracy for both public and private clients. Emmanuel received his bachelors degree from Northwestern in 2018 where he majored in political science and minored in chemistry and environmental policy.
