Kenny Wong
Assistant Director of Design Research
Kenny is a graduate of the School of Arts and Architecture and the Luskin School of Public Affairs at UCLA with Master’s degrees in Architecture and Urban & Regional Planning. With a concentration on affordable housing and community development, he is experienced in the diverse facets of housing issues. Driven by commitments to spatial and social justice, he has practiced as a housing advocate, multifamily designer, nonprofit developer, financial consultant, policy analyst, and academic researcher between the Oakland-East Bay Area and Southern California. Creative design research and collaborative multidisciplinary approaches are crucial to his investigative and problem solving methods. His research interests are in equitable development and the production of space among the intersections of arts, culture, and economy. Kenny is a former cityLAB Graduate Fellow and student of the Urban Humanities Initiative and continues his interdisciplinary work as a designer, core UHI Alumni member, and teaching collaborator with the program.
