Hanna Erixon Aalto

Hanna Erixon Aalto is an architect, lecturer and researcher and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Critical Studies of Architecture from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The core of her interest revolves around retooling the practices of architecture and urban design relative to the challenges of climate change and the environmental crisis and she is devoted to finding new ways of involving a multitude of actors in the development of resilient future strategies for more inclusive and sustainable landscapes. Her work sets out to rethink and explore more integrated approaches to human/nature relationships through the utilization of design-based and transdisciplinary research methods. Since 2005, her work has been propelled through workshop-based, site-specific, and experimental design processes with professionals and researchers from the fields of e.g. political ecology, urban design, architecture, systems ecology, and landscape design, as well as planners, developers, local interest groups, activists and NGOs.
