Carrie Gammell
Senior Research Associate
Carrie Gammell is a designer, researcher, and graduate student in the PhD program at UCLA AUD. Her research engages the intersection of historic preservation and urban redevelopment, including housing and transportation planning and policy, land-use and environmental law. Carrie holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University and a Master in Design Studies (Critical Conservation) with a Letter of Commendation from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her graduate thesis, entitled “A Real Face-Washing for All Downtown,” investigated the contemporary “revitalization” of central neighborhoods in Cleveland, Ohio, as a continuation of, rather than an antidote to, midcentury urban renewal.
